The following is a list of real excuses/reasons my work colleagues and I have received from learners attempting to justify their underperformance/non-performance in tests/exams :
- I did not have time to revise - priorities ?
- I only started revising a few days before the test/exam - a classic from the 'last-minute revision' heroes.
- You told us the test/exam was next week - apparently, professional educators are liars.
- You never told us there was a test/exam - apparently, professional educators have a pointless job.
- I am addicted to computer games and find it hard to find time to revise - all play and no work.
- You never taught us this topic - professional educators will do anything to make their learners fail . . .
- I have booked a holiday during the week we have the test/exam - priorities ?
- I got lifted by the police at the weekend and could not revise - no comment.
